Artist's Statement:
I am enticed by the three dimensional images of the world to filter them through heart felt emotional responses and transform them onto two dimensional canvases.

My hope is that these images will in some small way transform the viewer’s life by enriching his or her spirit.

My paintings, with simplified design and enriched values, drip with rich, complementary color - - all in an attempt to give homage to the Earth’s Creator, the true Artist of Excellence.

I paint both rural and urban landscapes using both a limited and intense oil palette.  My paintings exude life and an intensity of color seldom seen, but most enjoyed.

My colorful palette brings the ordinary into the realm of the extra-ordinary and uses a most infectious technique, using many impressionistic tools such as bold, complementary colors and emotionally charged brush strokes.

I paint in an Impressionistic manner that stretches design boundaries with an intensity of brush stroke, texture, and color. I concentrate on urban cityscapes and rural landscapes of Central Minnesota. 

I am both a studio and plein aire (on site) painter.  My paintings in the studio tend to be larger sizes while my plein aire paintings tend to be smaller in size.

At present, my energies are concentrated on St. Paul and Minneapolis series of oil paintings that express my feelings about the urban landscape.  For example, notice the interior of St. Paul’s Mickey’s Diner and the Hasting, Minnesota street painting on this page. The landscape depicts the south shore of Lake Pepin.

You can own any of the framed, limited-edition images or originals that are currently being exhibited at any of the business sponsored venues in and around the Twin Cities Metro area. The sample paintings displayed of Mickey’s diner represent an example of the urban landscape executed in oil and available as both framed and unframed limited edition giglee’s. No edition is larger than 200 in number.

Artist Biography:
I have been painting for 45 years and have received three art related degrees:

·        24 credits toward Master of Fine Art from University of Minnesota

·        Bachelor of Science in K-12 Art Teaching from St. Cloud State University

·        Bachelor of Arts in Technical Illustration and Commercial Design from Bemidji State University

I am currently teaching a night class in oil painting and find it very rewarding.

I have been painting professionally for many years. My 28 years experience as a technical illustrator and designer has found a means of expression through my paintings.

My paintings can be found in both private and corporate galleries.
