Artist's Statement:
An outdoor enthusiast and amateur photographer for many years, Francine Corcoran thrives on fresh air and the pursuit of “unimproved” spaces. She grew up in Hokah in southeastern Minnesota, where she learned to see on walks in the spring woods with her Mother.

Francine makes photographs out of doors in whatever light is available in whatever conditions occur – rain, snow, bugs, mud, grit. Film, no color filters, no flash, no
off-season. Subject matter includes any and all moderately accessible terrain in
scheduled parklands, Scientific and Natural Areas, Nature Conservancy
Preserves, roadsides, alleys and other byways.

Francine works at the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, Minnesota, and walks
to work across the Mississippi River. She has also walked all the streets
of the City of Minneapolis, for fun.
