Where Dean
Rehpohl's art can be seen in 2007:
Artist's Statement: Our early ancestors used it as a means of working their way into a new territory; its shorelines soon established new settlements. It became a liquid conveyor belt; carrying clear-cut forest timber to construction sites establishing new towns and bigger cities. Today it is used to transport industrial and agricultural supplies to local and worldwide markets. And for many it is a source of recreation; for boating enthusiasts, fisherman, tourists and nature lovers. Yes, I said nature lovers; even in its busiest straights and bends, you can find pockets of raw nature. Flora, fauna, aquatic, amphibious and aviary species abound in little coves and backwater bays. I want to capture the pristine beauty of the Mississippi River in my photographs, but I also want to show man’s interaction with it (which ranges from a protective interlacing to a painful death grip). Please join me (via my photos) as I paddle, stomp, climb and wade along the shorelines of this great river. You can view more of my work at: http://www.r-tree.com |
